Session organizer and chair: Ari Hottinen, Nokia Research Center, Helsinki, Finland. Session with contributions from the MASCOT and SURFACE projects.

The goal of this special session at the 8th IEEE International Workshop on Signal Processing Advances in Wireless Communications (SPAWC 2007) is to disseminate recent results related to transceiver optimization and resource allocation in multi-channel links and networks. The papers in the session address both theoretical and practical aspects in multi-channel (MIMO,OFDMA, relay, etc) networks, ranging from optimal channel assignment at transmitter(s) to optimal receiver design.

1 - EFFICIENT RESOURCE ALLOCATION FOR ORTHOGONAL TRANSMISSION IN BROADCAST CHANNELS Eduard Calvo, Javier R. Fonollosa, Technical University of Catalonia, Spain

2 - ON THE OPTIMAL RELAY LOCATION AND POWER ALLOCATION IN A VIRTUAL ARRAY SYSTEM WITH MINIMUM OVERALL OUTAGE PROBABILITY Loreto Pescosolido, Sergio Barbarossa, University of Rome, "La Sapienza", Italy

3 - MIMO TWO-WAY RELAYING WITH TRANSMIT CSI AT THE RELAY Ingmar Hammerström, Marc Kuhn, Celal Esli, Jian Zhao, Armin Wittneben, ETH Zurich, Switzerland; Gerhard Bauch, DoCoMo Communications Laboratories Europe GmbH, Germany

4 - A LOW COMPLEXITY DISTRIBUTED MULTIBASE TRANSMISSION SCHEME FOR IMPROVING THE SUM CAPACITY OF WIRELESS NETWORKS Hilde Skjevling, University of Oslo, Norway; David Gesbert, Eurécom Institute, France; Are Hjørungnes, University of Oslo, Norway

5 - PROPERTIES AND OPERATIONAL CHARACTERIZATION OF PROPORTIONALLY FAIR RESOURCE ALLOCATION Martin Schubert, Fraunhofer German-Sino Lab for Mobile Communications (MCI), Germany; Holger Boche, Technical University of Berlin, Germany

6 - PERFORMANCE OF AN OPTIMUM RECEIVER SCHEME BASED ON PILOT-SYMBOL CHANNEL ESTIMATION OVER A MEASURED MIMO CHANNEL Giulio Coluccia, Giorgio Taricco, Politecnico di Torino, Italy; Christoph Mecklenbräuker, Vienna University of Technology, Austria

7 - OPTIMAL SUBCHANNEL ASSIGNMENT IN A TWO-HOP OFDM RELAY Ari Hottinen, Nokia Research Center, Finland; Tiina Heikkinen, University of Helsinki, Finland
